How to Start a Clothing Brand - Plastisol Heat Transfers
what the hell is a plastic saw heat
transfer you just started now getting in
the game and you want to bang out a
couple t-shirts but pockets are a little
thin now if you invested that hundred
dollars and two hundred dollars on heat
press your next step is getting some
plastic saw heat transfers why do I
think these are good for up-and-coming
brands you control your inventory I
cover this in another video but you
control your inventory you're not
committed to printing a hundred t-shirts
of one design one color different sizes
this way you print what you need when
you need them now they charge by the
sheet per print so let's say your sheet
is 14 by 19 you could gang up for five
six different designs on that one sheet
and just pay that one print fee this is
what I drew up I don't know if you guys
can see this says low go low go low go
low go low go low go low go imagine this
is a 14 by 19 sheet you ganged up one
two three four five six seven different
designs on one sheet and your pain just
for that one print so now the company
that you go through say they charge a
dollar fifty per print or 150 you just
got seven shirts does that make sense to
you now do you get why I think this is a
good thing for startup Brent you're only
paying dollar fifty for one of these
sheets you're getting seven logos on if
you would have got this done by a screen
printer just printed directly onto your
shirt you would have to pay seven
different setup fees seven different
screen fees and then you would have to
pay per print on top of that with this
there's no setup fee they just have a
base price on how much it cost per sheet
why do I think you're going to be saving
money this way since you're ganging up
seven different designs and then you're
just buying a bunch of blank shirts and
you're printing on demand are you
praying when you need them because
you're controlling your own inventory
now you could just print one or two
designs here and there this week I'm
gonna drop this design next week i'ma
drop this design and you just stay
consistent because you have seven or
eight however many fit on this sheet and
you only paid that 150 for it and then
this way you could test out design so
you're not just locking down
and designs and saying alright like
these have to sell no maybe four of the
seven sell better than the other three
the other three could always trash
because you haven't printed them on all
your shirts yet you just did them on a
few that didn't sell and now you know
controlling your inventory with the heat
press and heat transfers for any startup
I think is a good idea now you know your
shirt you're selling hundreds of this
one design and you're getting tired of
heat pressing that same design now you
could go and outsource to a print shop
and be like hey check it out got this
design you pay the setup fee and you
know that shirts gonna sell you already
proven that it will sell so you can
order 200 shirts with that one design
because you know you're gonna sell them
I hope this is making sense I'm just
trying to say it's more cost efficient
to do it this way to go heat press route
with the heat transfers only because
from a business standpoint your margins
are crazy big it costs two dollars for
your blank t-shirt and you're paying a
dollar not even a dollar per print
because you're ganging up so many
designs on one and you're only paying a
dollar so it comes out to like a quarter
per print so now you're talking to 25
for the shirt and print you put them on
your online store for let's say 18 $20
you see how much profit you're making
that's what 1775 profit come on man and
you're not stocking all this stuff you
don't have a mentor just blank shirts
sitting there on your shelf and not 350
already printed shirts that you didn't
even know was really gonna sell or not
you know I mean plus the saw heat
transfers what a heat press you're
trying to grow your brand and build your
brand listen to me I did it on my own um
I found out about this a little late in
the game but even when I found out about
it I went out and bought me a heat press
because I was already getting stuff
screen printing so I just went out and
got heat press and then started doing it
this way just to test designs to see
what would work and what wouldn't work
and I would do the same thing put four
or five designs on a sheet release them
slowly throw up some Instagram post some
lay what do you guys think about this or
this one
whatever sales I keep and then I'll do a
bigger run at a print shop and then
whatever I didn't sell I kind of just
toss them to the side man it was an easy
way for me to control my inventory and
on top of that test out what designs
would work and what wouldn't work nosies
for me to do knit shirts to like Oh
retired I did some shirts that said
forever 24 and I did it like three days
before his retirement and we sold out
ass and that's not a shirt I'm going to
keep selling all the time it was just
for that moment when people wanted it
and it sold so I hope this helps some of
you guys if not all you guys that are
watching like I said these videos are
for the beginners the up-and-comers the
guys that aren't really sure how to
start out I'm just giving them an avenue
to start out with catch you guys on the
next one boy big brand oh yeah
