How It's Done - Heat Transfer Press with QLP
Folks, at Quality Logo Products, all we hear
is, "Heat press this," and, "Heat transfer that."
People are always talkin' about the heat press
and how awesome it is.
We must hang out with different people at
work.
In short, the process is similar to when your
mom used to iron the numbers onto your soccer
jersey.
Except on a much grander scale with a bigger
iron, highly detailed, digitally printed artwork,
and an operator that doesn't HAVE to love
you just cause they gave birth to you.
It starts with a special version of your custom
logo printed backwards on a sheet of teflon
transfer paper.
Kurt: Whoa whoa whoa! How special are we talkin'
here?
Joe: Lemme put it this way: shut up.
It's special because it's coated with an adhesive
that allows it to bind with the fabric.
Next, your logo is placed face down on your
promo product.
A giant flat-iron is then lowered onto your
item, and you know it's getting hot, hot,
HOT.
Kurt: Three hots? Sounds pretty warm.
Joe: Well, it's not cold.
On average, it's 300 degrees and up.
The heat melts the adhesive into the fabric.
Combine that with 30-40 PSI, that's Pounds
Per Square Inch, and it's the perfect mix
of heat and pressure to create that permanent
imprint.
So when you life the press and peel back the
paper, you've got yourself one fine lookin' logo.
Kurt: How fine lookin' is it?
Joe: Lemme put it this way: If your logo was
a car, it'd be a mint condition, 1969, cherry
red, V8 Shut Up and Don't Interrupt Me Again.
With leather interior.
Kurt: Yeeeaaah- Wait, what?
Joe: So there ya go. Just log on to Quality
