Hanes Beefy T vs Gildan G200 T Comparison Review T Shirt 100% Cotton Before After Wash

design and today I thought I'd do
something a little different
I wanted to do a comparison video of two
of the more popular t-shirt blanks that
are out there that are being used for
making t-shirts people like myself who
are in business making selling their own
t-shirts on their own websites and what
I want to compare was the Gildan G 200
this is one an extra-large actually just
got an order of new shirts today this is
a guild in G 200 100% cotton t-shirt and
I wanted to compare that to my stand by
the shirt that is normally been my first
choice and what I've had the most
experience with that's the Hanes beefy T
this is a tagless shirt 100% cotton
both the Hanes and the Gildan shirt are
both rated at six point one ounce
t-shirts so I thought it was a fair
comparison I get my shirts through giphy
shirts calm I know there's a whole bunch
of different t-shirt wholesalers there
is a price difference between these two
shirts the Gildan is about 60 cents
cheaper than the Hanes which doesn't
sound like much but if you figure for
every 10 shirts you order that's a six
dollar difference 6 dollars cheaper for
the Gildan so I was curious I ordered a
few of these Gildan shirts to make up as
a shirt to myself see how they wear so
what I'm gonna do is I'm gonna pause the
video I'm gonna make up a couple of
t-shirts I'm using jet pro soft stretch
heat transfer paper I'll be transferring
them with my heat press and then I'm
gonna do a before and after of doing a
wash and then we'll see how the two
shirts fare I can tell you that out of
the box no the Gildan is definitely a
little bit thinner if they're both 6.1
ounce cotton then this there's a
difference between other companies are
rating these shirts the Hanes shirt is
clearly you probably couldn't see in the
YouTube video but it's clearly a little
bit denser it feels a little bit heavier
when you hold the Gildan up again you
probably can't see them the
but there's almost a little bit of
transparency to it the flipside that I
like about the Gildan is right out of
the box it does have a more comfortable
feel to it kind of like a one of your
favorite church you've watched a hundred
times it just feels good when you put it
on but downside is I'm not sure how it's
going to wear because if it's already
feeling like it's lighter and softer
when it's new how's it gonna stand up to
the Hanes which seems to be a little bit
for lack of a better term beefy like
they say a beefy t so anyway I'll pause
the video do a couple of heat transfers
and then we'll pick it up before the
watch other shirts look and how they how
they fare after the wash I plan on
washing these the way I tell all my
customers the way I do it myself the
first wash turn the shirts inside out
use a gentle cycle and then throw them
the dryer on a medium setting not high
heat with a bunch of towels not a gentle
setting I'm not gonna put these out and
air dry them that's not realistic but
just a medium setting and we'll see how
the two shirts look after so hang tight
okay now we're back looking at the two
shirts before they go in the wash this
first one here is the Hanes beefy T this
is done using a jet pro soft stretch
heat transfer this is an extra-large on
the back just to show what everything
looks like how many you guys are into
the radio-control scene this is a savage
flux 2350 pretty cool remote control
truck doing this shirt up for a friend
so this is the Hanes beefy T again
before we wash it and then next to it is
the Gildan I believe it's a G 200 it's
the comparable model to the the Hanes
beefy T also supposed to be 6.1 ounce
also you can actually I think you can
see because this Canon camera I'm using
is HD you can kind of see a ghost image
of what the back of the t-shirt is right
here which is a GSXR motorcycle piece of
artwork and that speaks a little bit to
what I was saying earlier in this video
about the thin kind of the thinner
nature of the gilding t-shirt
it was the backside of it you know again
the pro being the Gildan feels a bit
softer right out of the box which I mean
I actually look forward to wearing it I
probably would wear it before I washed
it but for the purpose of this video
we're gonna wash these two shirts and
see how they fare afterward so this is
just your before picture and then I'm
gonna put these in the wash and we'll
see how they do
okay one last quick shot I wanted to do
was the collars of these t-shirts before
they're washed so obviously this is the
guild in which you can tell you know the
stitching's it's not it's it's nice
there's no real irregularities when I
look over the whole shirt but I want to
move up here to the Hanes and I don't
know how much of this will come through
in the video but there's no question
when you feel the to the caller on the
Gildan is thinner the stitching does not
look to be I mean you got two lines of
stitching here but it's not it just
doesn't look as tight as the Hanes a
short and there's no question
also the Hanes is tagless which I like
most people seem to like and the quality
of the actual collar seems heavier duty
on the Hanes I'm not sure how much of
that detail will come through on the
video but thought it was worth showing
before I put them in the wash and also
note that the guilt ends up not quite as
thick of a collar which to me I like too
thick a collar but again both nice I
just think give me Hanes the edge here
in the column okay here we have the
guilt in shirt the owner of the Suzuki
logo in the front and the the Hanes of
the HPI racing logo in the rear this is
uh literally 10 minutes after they've
come out of their first wash I'm washed
them on in warm water turn them inside
out try to preserve the heat transfer
the first time through and so that's
warm water using you know regular liquid
detergent no fabric softener no bleach
nothing crazy just the basic wash in
warm water
then they went in a medium cycle in the
dryer pulled them out a little bit of
wrinkles you can see but totally dry
without being like crazy sitting in the
dryer roasting for the better part of an
hour's more like a 40 45 minute drying
anyway the two shirts you know they
basically both fared pretty well in the
wash I would say that's things that I
noticed in the beginning before these
two shirts have been actually laundered
it pretty much stands true I tried them
both on and I have to say the Gildan may
have shrunk a little bit more than the
Hanes did but overall the Gildan looks
good after the wash still feels
comfortable a little bit softer then the
beefy t does but the beefy T wins out in
terms of seeming like it's a bit more
durable a little bit heavier weight and
again I think the superior caller so I
guess what it boils down to is the two
shirts or they're not worlds apart for
me personally I'm going to continue
using the the Hanes beefy T kind of just
based on the fact of my own observations
they're not really scientific but
there's no question that the the Hanes
shirt is the heavier of the two Cotton's
but again I actually made this Suzuki
shirt for myself I'm gonna wear it it's
a Gildan it's nice I don't think it's
gonna fall apart after the first few
times through the wash what it really
boils down to is you got two t-shirts
here that are separated about at least
through my retailer or wholesaler I
should say by about 60 to 63 cents so if
you're buying a hundred shirts the
Gildan is gonna end up costing you sixty
dollars less than the Hanes but from my
I guess for my opinion stands here and
it really comes down to each individual
t-shirt manufacturer is that for the
extra 60 cents the Hanes is worth it
simply for the heavier cotton the
thicker collar and I think for me
there's just I think there's a little
bit more familiarity with the Hanes name
so again the plus the gilding is it
feels nice and soft right out
the box where the Hanes might need to go
through the wash five five to ten times
before it's got the same softness to it
so in a nutshell that's my observation
I'm sure there's differences opinion out
